Ink it! Stamp it! | Sponge Brayer Backgrounds

Hello and welcome to the Ink it! Stamp it! Blog Hop, this month we are going to share a technique with you. After a lot of contemplating, I decided a background technique using Sponge Brayers, here's the finished card:

I adore the ombre effect you can achieve using the sponge brayers, a tip I would give is "less is more", slowly build your colour, you can't remove the ink once it's on your card, but you can always add more!

The other reason it took me so long to decide on my project was that I was pondering over which retiring products to use - several of the items on this card will be retiring on May 31st. I used Shimmery White Cardstock for the background, it looks gorgeous in real life, try as I did, I just couldn't get a good photo of the shimmer.

My colour combination is Island Indigo, Soft Sky and Sweet Sugarplum - all retiring colours, likewise the Butterflies Thinlets and the sentiment from Watercolor Wings - I so do adore this set, and the Metallic Foil Doilies and Glitter Enamel Dots. Whilst sad to see items go, I am super exited at what is to come, and I'm sure you will be too!

I made a tutorial of creating this background, the only limit to this technique is your colour combinations!

Check out the other techniques the team has on offer, I'm sure I will be adding some to my "to do" list

I've used some supplies that have been announced on the list to retire, so if you need more Glitter Enamel Dots, Butterflies Thinlets, Watercolor Wings stampset or anything Sweet Sugarplum, Soft Sky or Island Indigo now is the time - only available while stocks last or til 31st May.

All about Spring flowers with Stampin Friends

Welcome to the April 2018 Stampin Friends Blog Hop, this month the theme is all about Spring - here in Australia we are heading into winter, so for me it's a chance to remember all those beautiful blooms before the leaves start dropping and so does the temperature.

So feeling a little sad, I decided to pull out the Blooms and Wishes set - why sad, it is retiring, so I thought I would get it inky again to show you what a wonderful set it is to have in your collection, here is what I created.

If you haven't heard, there is also a colour revamp, lots of new colours and some old favourites returning - as I am saying goodbye to Blooms and Wishes I decided to create with 4 of the retiring core colours - Soft Sky, Pink Pirouette, Perfect Plum, Rose Red and Wild Wasabi.

I stamped the flowers on Watercolour paper, then using an Aqua Painter washed in the Soft Sky background, I stamped the sentiment on Vellum and heat embossed in Silver - I do love the shimmer from heat embossed sentiments. I carried the silver theme through with the Mini Gable Gift box, these are great to pop together for a coordinating gift. The scalloped edge is the "flat" side of the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, a great way to dress up you card with ease.

I hope my creations have brightened you day with the thought of Spring, continue through the hop for more Spring inspiration, you are currently visiting Sue Vine - MissPinksCraftSpot.

Sadly the Blooms and Wishes stamp set is retiring, so if you must have it this may be the last chance purchase, likewise anything Soft Sky, Pink Pirouette, Perfect Plum, Rose Red or Wild Wasabiso don't delay - available while stocks last or til May 31st.

One last item, thank you to everyone that visited last months Hop and commented, and a big congratulations to the winner of the Stamp-a-ratus.... drum roll....

Stamping Dreams - Favourite DSP

Welcome to the Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop, this month it's all about DSP - Designer Series Paper. Now I will confess, I am a lover of DSP, but not a cutter, bahhaha! It looks at me and says "I'm so pretty, how can you cut me?", yes for me the struggle is real.

That being said, if you follow me, you will know that I love shimmer and bling, so it would be no surprise if I said that Specialty Designer Series Papers would be my favourite, in the Occasions Catalogue Sweet Soiree was my favourite, but now (sorry Sweet Soiree), my new favourite would be Share What You Love.

This beautifully stunning Specialty paper feature hand painded designs on heavy weight 12 x 12 sheets, and 4 designs have a translucent, pearlised finish - that set off my bling-o-meter for sure! The colours in the designs are just devine, yes there are elements of pink, but I love them all!

One of the Make & Takes at the recent OnStage event featured this paper, and rather than complete the project at the event, I finished it at home and changed up the design - I've have also added some retiring bling by the way of Petal Passion Embellishments with the "new" for my project.

Now if you are thinking that you are seeing Mint Macaron, your eyes are NOT deceiving you, yes, yay! it's returning in the 2018 Annual Catalogue.... WOOT! Both the card base and background stamping form the Love What You Do set are you Mint Macaron fix! And how gorgeous is that DSP, this hand painted design is just stunning, I'm so in Love!

You are currently visting Sue Vine - MissPinksCraftSpot, take you time and work through all the DSP projects in the hop - I'm sure that you will be inspired to cut into your pretty, pretty papers!

Sadly some of the products I have used today are on the retiring list, so if you must have the Petal Passion Embellishments or any of the 2017-2019 In Color Finely Woven Ribbons don't delay - available while stocks last or til May 31st.

Petal Palette #WWYS164

Welcome back to What Will You Stamp? This week we are highlighting the Petal Palette Stamp set.

 Petal Palette Stamp Set

This stamp not only has coordinating framelits, but also has DSP, Embossing folders and Memories & More cards, ribbon and embellishments - what a Suite!

 Petal Passion Suite

For my card today I have coloured the stamped images with Stampin Blends and added a touch of Perfect Plum to the flowers using a Stampin Marker. I've coloured a little messy, but I quite like the effect, I think it adds to the brush stroke imagery of the stamps.

I created the background using the dotted stamp from the set, stamping with Versamark onto the Perfect Plum, it totally changed up the look of the card, and finally I added some Glitter Enamel Dots for that touch of bling.

I've used some supplies that have been announced on the list to retire, so if you need more Glitter Enamel Dots or anything Perfect Plum now is the time - only available while stocks last or til 31st May.

Don't forget to Check out all the great projects from the Design Team here, we would love you to participate in our weekly challenges at What Will You Stamp? why not play along with this week - We'd love to see what you create!
